Reflection
The topic that I chose was the blizzard of 78' and I was really interested because I knew a little about it but I also wanted to learn more about it because I've always been interested in weather. After researching the topic I am happy with the choice I made because I really like the topic because of how interesting it is.
Throughout this research project i have set goals for myself to ensure that I will get my work done. For instance I have made sure that I have passed in the required assignments on time and make sure that they were done correctly. To make sure I did this I checked moodle everyday to see what the assignments were.
A lot of the facts that interested me while I was learning about was how much damage the storm created and how many people were impacted by this huge storm. I think this topic is a more unique topic because no one really knew how this storm occurred in the first place because everybody thought it would just be a passing storm that lasted for 36 hours. It helped a lot when I was researching because there was a lot of websites that had a lot of useful information that made this project possible.
Through the process of researching I found a lot of information through the websites and a book that I owned. I found pages and pages of information because of the various resources that I had at hand and through the web.
Through the research process I learned a lot of things about the blizzard of 78' because I looked more for educational websites and or personal websites that told the viewer about his or her experience which helped me because it allowed me to be able to picture myself in the situation and react the same way that the person did.
As I continued the research I never knew that one of my strengths was to write about the topic with a lot detail so that it will make sense for anybody else who reads my project writing
When deciding what genres to use I thought of what was the best way to describe and the visualize but still tell in words what the storm would've been at the time. That was when I thought of using the poem, list, letter, and the poster method because they tell the story of a person in the letter and shows a visual through the poster that I made.
The hardest part of the process was the list because at the time I wasn't born yet and they have advanced some of the things that were used then for instance they didn't have generators or have the best snowvblowers in the world. I thought of things that really haven't advanced since like blankets and durable coats for the winter.
To introduce the topic I wanted to start of with a story to sort of introduce the reader and give him/her a sense of what the topic is and then talk about the topic in different ways such as the poem and letter method to show that it could be talked about in different ways other than a story.
After peer reviewing I learned a lot of the things that I didn't know should have been in the MGRP like little errors in the repeating sentances and puctuation that would impact my final grade. Some of the things that I saw In the reviewers MGRP was that he used a lot of choice words to describe moments in the Narrative which really impressed me as I continued to read his MGRP
